| Gift
mixes have been shared between friends for quite a
few years because they are easy and fun to make!
The
traditional way to make share these mixes is in a
wide-mouth quart jars, but there are many other containers
which will work as well. There are inexpensive clear
plastic food containers that also work great. Clear
cellophane bags may also be used. Canning jars can
be found at yard sales for very low prices. Recycled
jars can be used too!
A
canning funnel has a large opening that fits over
a jar making it easier to fill jars. When adding food
to the containers, neatness counts!
Use
different colored candies available during the year.
Change
chocolate chips to other flavored chips sometimes.
Some
recipes will need to be pressed down gently in the
containers so that they will fit! You may need to
experiment to find out which containers work best
for the different recipes.
Tops
of jars or containers can be decorated with fabric
or paper. Finish the edges with pinking shears. There
are a variety of edge trimmers to choose from. Paper
doilies are pretty! Attach with ribbon, lace, twine
or raffia. Make it pretty!
Tie
on a cardstock label and a small gift or trinket that
suits the occasion.
Have
fun making these easy and inexpensive gifts!
